Glossmi has no account and does not send your text, microphone audio or photos to us or any company. Translation and recognition run on your iPhone. Superwall receives limited device, purchase and paywall-interaction data as described below; it does not receive translation content.

What stays on your device

  • Camera images and photos you choose are read on device with Apple Vision. Glossmi does not save or upload these images. The photo picker grants access only to the photos you select.
  • Voice mode requests microphone and speech-recognition permission. Apple Speech recognizes audio on device only; Glossmi refuses languages without on-device recognition and never falls back to server recognition. Audio is processed in memory and is not saved or uploaded.
  • Recognized text and its translation, like typed translations, are saved in your local phrasebook. You can delete these entries in the app. Translations are read aloud using Apple speech synthesis and an installed voice.
  • Everything you create or import in the app is stored only on your device.

Features that use AI: word meanings (tap a word), sentence breakdown, voice translation, and camera/photo text translation.

  • Apple Translation, on-device translation models built into iOS, including available Apple Intelligence translation languages on supported iOS versions and devices.
  • Apple Speech for on-device speech recognition; Apple speech synthesis for reading translations.
  • Apple Vision for on-device text recognition.
  • Apple Foundation Models, built into iPhones with Apple Intelligence.
  • Qwen3 1.7B by Alibaba Qwen (Apache 2.0), if you download it, run with MLX.

Word meanings are written by an AI model that runs on this iPhone: Apple Foundation Models, or Qwen3 1.7B if you download it. Translation uses Apple Translation, also on this iPhone. Voice uses Apple Speech on device only and reads translations with Apple speech synthesis. Camera and selected photos use Apple Vision on device. Audio and photos are not saved by Glossmi; recognized text and translations are saved in your phrasebook. Meanings can be wrong. Nothing you type, say or photograph is sent to us or any company. Language and speech models may need a download before offline use.

Network access

iOS downloads translation languages from Apple after asking you. Offline voice recognition also requires an on-device speech model for the selected language. iOS may need a connection to obtain language, speech or voice assets before offline use. Translation, photo recognition, speech recognition and speech playback run on your iPhone once their assets are available.

If you choose the Qwen3 model, Glossmi downloads its files once from Hugging Face; Hugging Face sees your IP address, nothing you type is sent. After that it runs offline.

Subscription offers and purchases use Superwall and the Apple App Store. Glossmi makes no other network requests.

No third-party tracking

Glossmi uses no advertising SDK or cross-app tracking identifier (IDFA). Superwall processes device identifiers, purchase history and product-interaction events for paywall functionality and analytics. These data are not linked to your identity or used for tracking.

Subscriptions

Purchases are handled entirely by Apple's StoreKit. We never see your payment details.

Subscription offers are shown by Superwall, which receives device, purchase and paywall-interaction data to display the offer and confirm a purchase. It never receives your name, email or anything you record in the app.
