DocuClean scans documents and recognizes text on your device. You do not need a DocuClean account. DocuClean stores documents in a local library. The app sends document content off the device when you choose to share or export it, or enable Pro iCloud Sync. Subscription paywalls use Superwall as described below.
Documents and on-device processing
- The camera scans documents on your device. Photos and files you choose are processed on device.
- OCR and supported AI naming, summaries and tags run on device. No document content is sent to a third-party AI service.
- Documents, page images and recognized text are stored in the app’s local library.
System device backups are controlled by your iOS and iCloud settings and may include local app files, including a saved signature. DocuClean does not manage those backups.
Optional iCloud Sync (Pro)
If you enable iCloud Sync in DocuClean on each device, documents sync through your private iCloud account using Apple’s CloudKit service. Synced data includes document titles, dates, types and tags, page images, page order and recognized text. Edits and deletions can propagate to your other enabled devices using the same Apple Account. This content is not sent to a developer-operated server or to Superwall.
Sync is enabled at launch only with Pro access and requires iCloud access, a connection and available iCloud storage. Changes to the sync setting take effect after closing and reopening DocuClean. DocuClean keeps its authoritative library in a local store that is separate from the CloudKit replica. Turning sync off, revoking iCloud access or signing out does not erase this local library, including saved changes that have not uploaded. Without Pro, the local library remains available. Existing cloud copies remain unless deleted through iCloud or document deletions are synced from DocuClean. Deletion markers are kept so document deletions can propagate. If cloud records are cleared while sync remains enabled, the retained local library may be uploaded again. If your Apple Account changes, sync pauses. To upload the retained local library to the new account, turn iCloud Sync off and on, then close and reopen DocuClean. Apple encrypts iCloud data in transit and at rest. End-to-end encryption depends on Apple’s data category, field protection and your iCloud settings; DocuClean does not promise that every CloudKit field is end-to-end encrypted. See Apple’s iCloud data security overview and Privacy Policy. Sync timing and availability depend on Apple’s services and your device settings.
Signatures
A reusable signature drawing is saved locally on the device with file protection. You can replace or delete it in the signing sheet. This reusable drawing is not part of document sync. When you place a signature, it becomes part of the page image; that signed page is included in document exports and in iCloud Sync when enabled. Deleting the reusable drawing does not remove signatures already placed on documents.
Subscriptions and paywalls
Apple processes payments. We never receive your payment card details. Purchases are subject to the Apple Privacy Policy and Apple Media Services Terms.
Superwall displays subscription offers and manages purchases and restoration. It receives purchase history, SDK/device identifiers and paywall interaction data for app functionality and analytics. DocuClean also supplies onboarding-completion state and the name of a locked feature when its subscription offer is requested. This information is associated with SDK/device identifiers to manage subscription access and measure paywall use. The app does not send a name or email address to Superwall or use this information for cross-app tracking. DocuClean does not send your name, email, documents, recognized text or signatures to Superwall.
No ads or cross-app tracking
DocuClean contains no advertising SDK, requests no tracking permission and does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA).
